Background:
OK, I haven't been on this website for about 5 years, although I visited it often the first year I got my bearded dragon. His (he is a male) name is Sobe. I have had him almost 6 years and he was over 6 months old when I got him, so he is around 6 and a halfish. He has two cages, because I am a school teacher. The cage in my classroom is very large, although I don't have the exact size since it was there when I got him, but the one at home is a 55. He is at school Monday - Friday and comes home on weekends and vacations. He also stays home when he is brumating. He has new reptisun 10.0 in both cages and often basks about 6 inches from the bulbs. He also has a basking lamp that usually has a 100 W bulb, it is also around 6 inches from his basking spot. He often climbs his glass to explore and I will let him when I am able to supervise him. He gets collard greens or bok choy with grated acorn squash on top. He gets some fruit, when I am eating some, and he gets crickets about once a week. I don't have exact temperatures for his cage, because I kept a close eye on that the first year, and have just been doing the same things since then. I use rabbit pellets as a substrate. I think I have answered enough questions about his care...let me know what I have left out.
Question:
There is something wrong with his right eye. I have noticed since he woke up this spring that his aim is often off when he is catching his crickets (I have always hand fed him). The other day I noticed that the pupil of his right eye is light instead of dark (like it has a cataract). I was wondering if this is age, vitamin deficiency or infection. Is it something I should take him to the vet for? Last time I worried about him, he had a bump under his belly, so I took him to the vet and she said just measure it regularly to make sure it doesn't grow and it will probably go away, which it did. The vet is over 30 minutes away, so I don't really want to make a trip if there is nothing she can do. I my experience says that this forum has more experience than most vets. Has anyone else seen this before? I didn't see it in the forums, but I only went back about 18 pages.
