Vegetables from road side stands and the grocery store

Do you just wash them really well? We stopped today where a man had a field of Collards for a $1 a head. I know they have been sprayed as the stuff at the grocery store has. Is thoroughly washing them safe enough?

And the answer is: yes. I've been feeding my grocery store veggies to my animals for a long time. I wash them very thoroughly, though.

You can buy those spray that they use for washing veggies...if you are worried. I hear they work really well.
