Uvb tube

Soooo, I have gotten a uvb from petsmart and I need to find a fixture or see if the one I got last night is the right one. Before you ask why didnt I put it in to see.... it fell out of the box when I got out the car and the bulb shattered.... ? i was reading last night that walmart under the cabinent lights work and I got a 24inch light cause I read that would work. But i dont know a dang thing about lights. Can you guys and gals help me??

You need a Reptisun 10 T5, or the Arcadia D3 12% or 14% T5 tube, both of which are very good. You will need a T5 light fixture also. This is what everyone on here recommends the most --- you can get them from these places on line or you can shop Amazon.com or www.lightyourreptiles.com or reptilesplus.com

I will say this: Shattering it might have saved your dragon's life, All Living Things UVB lights are basic Chinese knockoffs of the Reptisun UVB's. You need to get a good UVB like a Reptisun 10.0 T5HO or an Arcadia 12%D3 or 14%. These are both T5 lights and, are the best out there so far, much stronger than the T8's. I wouldn't use all living things lights on a bet. Petsmart sells very little merchandise that is actually good for dragons.

The only issue is she needs this light now. I had no money for the longest time and she has been sluggish without the uvb. I will upgrade once I get more. And could you guys explain the T5 and T8 please??

The T 5 is a stronger UVB bulb than the T 8 also the T 5 is changed out once per year whereas the T 8 is changed out every 6 months-- if you live in a warm area take her outside let her sit in sunlight for 15 minutes it is equivalent to 4 hrs of UVB

Also I was going to suggest what is the hood you have?? You can try getting a Reptisun bulb -- 10.0 T 8 to fit the hood--- you need to take the cover off the hood of the bulb and leave it off so you have just the bulb showing --- see if that will work ---

the T5 is 5/8 " round and the T8 is closer to an inch round if that helps. The fixtures are not the same, so you have to have the right fixture.

The bulb size you had that broke was a T8, which will work but needs to be within 8" of your dragon to do him any good at all. The T5's are best because the UVB saturation is higher and, it reaches farther can be no closer than 10" and, no farther than 16" and, they last a full year instead of 6 months.

Okay then! It will be prettty close to her. I just built her a cave/mountain that will bring her closer if she wanted to.
