UVB tips!

So i really want to get the proper UVB lighting for my beardie. He came to me with having NONE for the last 3 months but still somehow doing great. I got a coil one for the last month when I got him so hed have something.

Now id really like to save and purchase a tube. Im just confused on which to get. I would need the tube, fixture, hood, etc that could ideally set over a mesh hood. If someone could help me compile a list of the products thatd be great! I cant remember if its the T5 or T8 that can be on a mesh hood, and if I need a reflector for both or for one of those tubes. I just want my kid to get as healthy as he can!

Thanks so much!

The fixture is basically the hood, what you want to get for the fixture/hood is one that is reflective, is a T5, and fits the bulb your putting in it.

As for the bulb portion you want to go with a T5 HO 10.0 Reptisun T5 bulb.
Either that or a Arcadia D3+ 12%, or Arcadia d3+ 14%.
The 14% of course is going to be stronger so it depends on your setup, the 12% would be perfect so you dont have to worry too much about it being too strong I believe in a 20-50 gallon enclosure.

You can get the fixtures off amazon for a good price along with the Reptisun bulb,
as for Arcadias bulbs you can get off of here,

As for which one can go on the screen, usually T5's can as long as it is 10% and higher.

For lights, reptisun and Arcadia are both excellent choices, for most siatuatuons the T5Ho is the best to use.
Either the 10.0 reptisun or the 12% Arcadia. The 14% Arcadia is also good but suited for tall enclosures. Length of the tube should be about 1/2 the enclosure, with a bigger enclosure being better.

I personally use and recommend sunblaster T5HO fixtures, with the nanoreflector. They need to be hung from something, they cannot be rested on top of a cage.

Reptile Basics also sells Arcadia products, though I don’t recommend their light fixtures, they aren’t as good as the sunblasters.

I have some guides for lighting, if you have questions about them let me know :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
