UVB Size/Length Question

So we're upgrading my daughter's beardie's viv to a 40br (36x18x16). He (Falcor) is about 10mos old, and we probably should have done it before now.

My question is regarding the length of the UVB fixture. Since both of the options I'm considering have good reflectors, do I need the UVB to be the full 36" in width, or will 24" be ok? In my head, the reflectors should do the the job covering the full tank, but I wanted to get some opinions before I ordered anything.

These are the 2 that I'm considering, and both have larger/longer options - but I'd rather put the extra dollars into other things for the tank if I can.

Go with the 22'' Arcadia from Light Your Reptiles. It's an excellent bulb/fixture and is the right size for that tank. You may even consider building an enclosure that is larger (4'x2'x2' or more). You can still use the same UVB light in a larger tank because it's long enough for an adult to bask under evenly.

Thanks Cooper! Ultimately we will go larger, but right now that's what fits in my daughter's room. We don't want to stick him somewhere where he won't have the interaction & face/out of tank time.
