UVB question

Just a quick question, I got my new beardie at the weekend having previously set his viv up and stabilised all temps etc. I do have one niggling concern about his uvb that I'd appreciate some input on...

I have the Arcadia Slimline Luminaire (http://arcadia-reptile.com/t5-slimline-luminaire/). It's 36" in a 48" vivarium. My concern is that I have fitted it right at the front of the vivarium exactly as the instructions (the instructions say: "this unit should be fitted to the front of a vivarium. Fit the slimline T5 fitting so that the front edge is touching the front plate above the door. This will ensure that the fitting provides a safe angle of illumination to the reptile and keeps the tting out of your view.")

Can someone tell me what they think of this as I would have, without the instructions, probably fitted it a bit further back to ensure the dragon was actually sitting directly beneath it. Seems to be he is rarely directly beneath it in its current position!

I have a slightly smaller UVB, but the same sort of shape. Personally, I have mine at the back of the viv facing down slightly which illuminates the entire floor area and all of the accessories in it. The positioning I don't think matters too much but as the instructions suggest, the front is probably best, but it is up to you! Ensure it illuminates a large area and your Beardie gets the maximum amount of UV. I am sure someone will say differently, but as long as your Beardie gets their UV I don't think it matters too much!

Arcadia luminaire reflectors are designed with a slightly oblique shape so that they direct the light down and at an angle into the cage. The position they recommend is based on this design (the exposure is still good, no worries) so that it minimizes the glare and visibility of the lamp for viewers.
