I am looking for UVB bulbs for my lovelies, but I'm a bit unsure.

They each have their own standard, 40 gallon tank (17 inches from floor to lid and about 35 or 36 inches wide). Should I get an 18-inch, 15 watt bulb...or a 22-inch, 24 watt bulb?

(I'm buying Zoo Med ReptiSun 10.0 T5's, buy the way)

Also, which is better: a T5 or a T8? High-output or not?

Thank-you! :D

T5 = high output. this is a much better bulb in terms of energy usage, light output, longevity and UV output.
T8 = normal output

Either of those would work if you Can Coordinate heat/UV exposure to the basking area. The 4" probably won't make much difference other than the 18" may be able to be mounted side ways with less overhang.

So does the difference in wattage matter? Or will either bulb be perfectly effective as long as they are mounted correctly?

The wattage is based on the length. The shorter bulb needs less power to make the same (relative) amount of light. The longer bulb however may brighten the cage more since it is longer. The UVI/irradiance should be the same regardless.

Hope that helps.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
