UVB Fixture

I use the Reptisun 10.0 that was fixed into the T5HO 34" Standard Fixture & Reflector. Sadly after not even having it for a year, it fell apart in my hands as I was changing the light. I don't feel comfortable purchasing another one for the $45 price tag unless I have to being it was flimsy and obviously didn't last long. Does anyone have a better suggestion on what kind of reflecting fixture to buy?

Do you have it sitting on top of a tank (where it needs to sit flat) or is it hung from the inside? Grow light fixtures work well but some of them have reflectors that don't come all the way around the bulb which is why I ask (the bulb sticks out some).

I also recommend the one cooperdragon suggests. I used some plain T5HO fixtures before (maybe meant for fish tanks I don't know) but they inhibited the UV output. So different fixtures can effect the uv output. I found the sunblaster was way better. You can also find them at many hydroponics(garden) stores. Make sure you get the one with a reflector.

The bulb didn't stick out of the reflector and it was long enough to position on the back side of the tank just by letting its cord rest on the edge so I didn't need to use anything to keep it in place though both sides of the reflector were inside of the tank. Can I still use the Reptisun 10.0 with the Sunblaster or do I have to change the kind of bulb?

Can you provide some pictures of how it is set up? Maybe we can understand better of what you have to deal with.

This is how it was set up before it broke. It stretched across the back of the enclosure, probably hard to see since the picture is dark.

So it sets on top of a glass tank. Does it set on top of a screen? The sunblaster could be rigged in some way I'm sure. Normally they would be mounted to a ceiling but you can use hooks. Maybe a skinny piece of wood that could stretch over the top with the fixture mounted to it. Have it cut to the exact size you need, that is if you aren't using a screen but I'm sure there are other ways to mount it.

I don't use a screen lid with him and I'll probably try to use zip ties or something but can I still use the Reptisun 10.0 bulb with the Sunblaster or no?

I don't use a screen either and have mine sitting along the top like that. Yes you can use the ReptiSun 10. Any T5 of the same size should work in the fixture.
