UVA bulbs? T5, T8, T10

We are upgrading our 40 gal tank to a 78 gal one (47x18x21).

I read a bunch of lighting posts but am still confused on UVA bulbs. Ours will be mounted in a hood on top of the screen. I am not sure yet because we have not setup the new tank yet - but think the basking area will be about 8" at the highest point or we may get 12" - I will look tonight.

Which is the most appropriate light?
The tank came with a 34" hood and UVA. Previous owner had a T8 in it. We know we should replace it. Does wattage matter?

If this was posted elsewhere - I couldn't find it and apologize.

I'd recommend a T5, 22" (wattage is set by length) in a nice reflector fixture. This can go over the screen and should be about 10" away. Light your reptiles.com sells some very nice kits.
