UV Bulbs

Hi I wasn't sure if my light was UV or not. It makes things glow like a night glow bulb does. Anyway I went and a new one today that is full spectrum. It is called Instant Sun with Phoshor3. It says it's used for reptiles. I got it in a hardware store. I later went to the pet store and looked at them and thought maybe I got the wrong kind. There were much more expensive ones made for reptiles and less expensive fish ones. Both gave off UV.

So I am wondering, is the one I bought okay? If not, do I have to get the reptile kind or is the one for aquariums okay to use too? Please point me in the right direction, thanks!

Full Spectrum I don't believe means necessarily that there is UV. Full Spectrum in general refers to there being the full spectrum of visible light. What exactly does the packaging say? I would be leery about the one from the hardware store in particular, especially not knowing how much UV if any it gives off. Not all reptiles have the same UV requirements, some don't really require any at all.

The best possible light right now for UV for a bearded dragon is the ReptiSun 10.0 fluorescent tube.

Okay great! I looked it up online to see what it looks like. There is the long hood bulb or the compact one. Is one better than the other?

Yes theres a big difference, get the long hood one. the compact one is unsafe.
