Urgent- Lightening help!!

Hello everyone!! I recently got my first beardie and I posted in the introduction section with tons of questions, thanks for the helpful information!! But I’m really confused now about the lightening!! So here we go.... I initially had bought the beardie house kit(bad idea) and was understanding that the lightening wasn’t enough, so I purchased the zillo t8 light and placed it under the screen and have the dual (heat/uv) dome light still above his basking area, and bought both a digital temp with prong and a heat gun which both do not even Match temps so I dont know what to believe!! I just read something about the zillo light being a bad product and can be harmful to my baby’s eyes? I don’t have a lot of money to keep buying crappy products!! What do I do?? His house is 30length x 12wide. I included the old pic,but I have added the t8 across the “cool” area! he also has another wood log in there, not shown in pic!!

The Zilla T 8 is not bad - you can use it just change it out around 6 months and replace w/ the Reptisun 10.0 T 8 bulb - it will fit your fixture -- you want it under the screen approx 6-8 inches from basking spot - so put a piece of decor under the UVB approx 6-8 inches from him -- I am guessing you are going to eventually upgrade to a bigger tank --- you might want to start looking at pricing for a bigger fixture not one the same length as tank tho ---

What can you tell me about the temperature issue?

for the temp probe it needs to sit in the spot where he sits for 10 minutes- the temp gun it needs to be 2-4 inches from spot- sometimes different fixtures read different because of what they are made out of-- what kind of readings are you getting ?

Hello,

That will be fine for the setup for short term. Those particular bulbs can be a bit hard on
the eyes & they don't emit real good UVB wavelength. If you have it at a 6-8 inch distance
from him, mounted directly alongside of your basking light then there should be plenty of
UVA to help overall brightness.
Just keep an eye on him & monitor his behavior to be sure his eyes are fine. Have you posted
any pictures of your baby?

Sorry for the late response! Here are the reading from the exact same spot, a lot of difference! So I have the probe suctioned to the glass next to the basking area.
