it started out with just one little late hatchling that started stargazing and twirling, now tonight as i fed them 3 more were singled out. they are all smaller then the others and while walking turn in at least 2 circles before going straight, flip, stargaze, and lean. one even seems to be dying as i type this. he is spasming and looking like he is going to puke, falling over then gasping for air. this is devistating to me and breaking my heart. they hardly eat and when they do catch a worm (phoenix worms) they spasm and barely keep it in their mouths. i fear the worst and am looking into euthanasia as i read there is nothing but bad outcomes of these symptoms. please. any words of encouragement or wisdom are appreciated. if euthanasia is the only answer its better then suffering.

Hello,

I hate to hear this, are the others from that clutch doing alright?
Those are not good symptoms & usually they don't make it. What sized tank are they in & what are the temperatures & humidity?
How old is the mother of the babies & did she have any calcium issues while she was gravid?
It is likely adeno virus or severe calcium issues. Or, there is a slight possibility of dehydration or inner ear problems.
Try to keep them warm overnight, around 80 to help their immune systems.
Do you have any liquid calcium on hand you could give to them?

So far the others are doing well, it's 4 out of 16 that aren't. Their basking spot is 103 and humidity is very low as they don't have a lid on the bins. They are in groups of 4 in 100L bins. The mother is quite young (she hatched September last year) I recieved her after a day of her being housed with the male we also bought. She got adequate calcium I believe though I could be wrong, I didn't know she was gravid until she really got antsy and I asked here. I mist them daily and even with the spasms they lap it up while being misted or run to the walls to drink. I have the zilla calcium "spray" I could give them a drop or two if you reccomend. I'm quite heartbroken this is happening, they are beautiful precious little souls :(

Small update, one baby since seperation has stopped exhibiting the stargazing and flipping (mind you this baby had it very very mild compared to the other 3) and is starting to eat more. Only one dragon in the seperate tub (the 4 ill ones) is pooping and I looked at one of the trans baby bellies and it's all pitch black. There couldn't be any way they are impacted, I fed small crix when they have them (1/4 inch) and I feed BSFL as the staple, the small ones. Is there? :(
Thank you Tracie for your help. I may look into having the parents tested for ADV if the emerging second clutch has any stargazers, as I haven't ruled out calcium deficiency in these 4.

Hello,

I think testing the parents for Adeno would be a good step.
Also, be sure to give a drop or two of the liquid calcium to them also, that should be sufficient. Just use a plastic dropper to drip onto their nose.
That's great news one of them has stopped showing that type of behavior right now. Hopefully he will continue to improve.
I doubt that they would be having any impaction issues if you are feeding that small of insects to them. Are you offering any greens?

Yes, every other day I offer dandelion or bok Choy lightly dusted in confetti sized pieces (as small as I can make them) I hope he does continue to improve, I'd feel a little better about the situation seeing that they could get better. I will try the calcium shortly after they warm up :) thank you again Tracie I appreciate your help. :)

Hello,

You are welcome. :D
How are they doing today, any improvements?
Great, I hope that the calcium helps them out. I do think that with quick intervention that there is always hope. Maybe it just wont be adeno, at all which would be the best scenario you can hope for.
Keep us posted on them.

I fear they are near death. They have all 100% gone off food :( the poor dears are heartbreaking to watch :( they barely drink when spritzed and don't get more then a small lick of the calcium I try to give them. :(

Hello,

Oh I hate to hear that, how sad for them.
Is the other one that was improving declining also or has he continued to do better?
They wont take any calcium at all, did you try seeing if you could get their mouths open at all to get some into them? They aren't interested in food, either?
I hope the next clutch isn't like this one for you.
Let us know how they are doing.

I cannot :( they will throw a fit and I'm very afraid I'd hurt them. I even went out to get some crickets and they didn't even pay attention. The one that seemed better has stopped eating and started having minor fits again.
There are 9 very big babies scuttling around from this next clutch. I'm shocked at the size difference as they came out about the size this clutch is. Not as long torso wise but very big to say the least. I'm wondering if these babies (the ill ones) were smaller eggs and succumbed to something because of that fact? I'm not sure. Grasping at straws really.
Thank you for all your help and checking in.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
