Well your temps sound good. I just want to be sure that Littlefoot isn't overheating. Some of the symptoms you mentioned are also signs of dehydration. That's why I was asking if you had got the thermometer we had talked about.

I know you are worried about your little guy right now. They do make us worry. I'm sorry! :(

I pm'd Tracie and she is always great about checking on threads when asked. She will be able to advise you what to do until you can get Littlefoot to the vet.

Hang in there David!

David, when you took the temp with the digital with probe, did you place the probe so that it was actually resting on (touching) the basking spot, then wait about 45 min for the temp to stop rising before you got the final readings? How close is he to the UVB when in his basking spot? Are you using a bright white basking bulb alongside the UVB?

Ok, the Repti-Sun 10.0 is a long strip fluorescent, right? How far away is the UVB from him? Are you using any lighting at night?

Hello David,

Does he have any fat reserves on top of his head? Are his pupils still dilated?
The symptoms do fit dehydration but could also be an ear infection or hypocalemia as well. He is a bit young though for the calcium issues so I would think it would be more likely to be an ear infection or maybe a respiratory infection.
Usually misting is ok, but most do not like to be misted but would rather just have a bath.
Are you able to afford going to the vet? Did you find a vet to go to?
Are they housed together then?

the gap is about 6-8 inches were the uvb is and no light on a night. Drache613 i wouldnt no what to look for if he had fat reserves on his head but he has went really thin AGAIN!! after just getting him better like because i took him to a specialist for some advice and he said he was dehyrated then he perked up then has this insane behaviour now and been like this for 3 days or so. hypocalemia what is this???? i wont be able to ring vet till tomorrow and may not find one i can afford hoping i can but its nearly 2 am in morning here in the uk and no they not housed together they were up until not long ago because i managed to a seperate viv for him little smaller than fat guts but has the same space as he does because i have fatguts viv sectioned off half way and its 4 foot

Hello,

Ok, yes that is good they are housed separately.
Hypocalcemia is low calcium issues but I don't think that is the problem, but cannot totally rule it out.
The fat pads are basically the pads on top of the head right above the eyes that either stick up or are sunken down. If they are really sunken in then he is still dehydrated & needs oral fluids.
What did you do that he began to improve, what did the specialist do for him? Did you give extra oral fluids & foods?
Exactly what are the temperatures at for overnight? Do you use any lighting or heating for him during the night? Is something disturbing him during the night that is interrupting his sleep?

Hi David...... were you able to get Littlefoot to a vet yet?
Please let us know if you took him in and how he is doing.
You and Littlefoot are in my thoughts!

he is 100% better today had 2 locusts covered in calcium balancer and vitiam supplement and hasnt been twirling about as much still has been a little bit. i went to handle him and it got a lot worse so just left him be havent sprayed or bathed as this causes the symptoms i explained to worsen. i rang and rang at least 20 vets local and none of them apart from 3 did reptiles of any sort and they all charged 100 quid and like i said i really cant afford that just going to have to ride it out with littlefoot as best i can if each day he gets better as he has today i will be happy hasnt been no where near as bad as yesterday i honestly thought he would be dead this morning. he is still basking with his head almost vertical though still doesnt look great but better. and tracie it wasnt a vet i visited with littlefoot lastime he was bad just a specialist and runs a shop that sells reptiles and hes done it for years and he said it was de-hydrated last time and to spray them twice daily and bath in container not the bath every other and that perked him back up but this is way different. he has fat pads on top of his eyes and they arent sunken in. and there is no light on a night and defiantely nothing to disturb him either i have a digital probe thermometer and its warm enough on a night in my house to have no heat on its 78 f which i read is about right and if it drops i have a thermostat that kicks the heat on if it goes below that

My beardie had similar problems a few months ago. I took him to the vet and she said he had neurological problems. She prescribed him liquid calcium. After getting him a new UVB bulb and giving him the calcium everyday all the problems (seizures, jerking, running in circles, holding head really low, keeping eyes closed, weird breathing) went away.

Hello David,

How is your boy doing this evening? Has he improved any today?
That is good his pads on top of his head are not sunken in. Are you going to try to get him in to see a vet if possible?
Is he older or younger than your other one is? It could be a inner ear imbalance, or metabolic bone problems. What kind of vitamins are you giving him? It could also be a vitamin deficiency such as the B vitamins that can cause issues such as yours is having.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
