*Urgent* Don't know what this means!

Well, as you know I have 6 beardies, but I've never seen this before. My new little one, Steel, did what I can only describe as gagging and made a sort of hissy noise, but I really wouldn't call it hissing, as I've heard beardies hiss before. I don't know if this is the first time he's done it, I've been hearing like-noises all day but I figured my dog just had gas....like I said I never experienced this before with any of my beardies and I'm really worried.

Okay, so he just did it four more times. Its more of a "gassy" sound than anything else.

Could it be that he has some kind of respiratory infection. I know that they can make wheezing or 'popping' noises when they have an URI. How is he otherwise? Eating and pooping ok? Any mucus from nose or mouth?

He's still eating like a pig and pooping as he always does.

Can you get it on video? Ive heard my beardies make funky noises, but I dont think Ive heard that!

Is he trying to puff out his beard? When they are little and they are learning how to be "scary" it looks like they are gagging when they puff up, untill they get better at it. It can look funny when they yawn too.

Well, he hasn't done it again today....But if he starts doing it again i'll put it in video. I know he's not yawning cause Zeff and Eros yawn, but I don't know about the learning to puff up thing. The only thing that seems to discount that is the pssss noise that comes out.

Do you have any kind of substrate in the tank he could be choking on like maybe he got a piece of sumpin in his windpipe? Do you use air freshiner or any sort of sprays in the area?

no sprays, and no, as of now i don't use any substrate due to Eros deciding to eat the paper towels and start choking on it. x_x That was a scary night. (He's fine now, we got the paper towel out with a tweezer and a few minor injuries on our fingers xD) I'm switching to shelf liner soon.

OH yikes! I bet that hurt, their lil teeth are so sharp. :x When Judah was lil he latched on to me a few times when I was feeding him certain food, like peach or mango. He loved it so much he coudlnt help but lunge for it and get my finger.

Ok well that rules that out..maybe he just had a lil sumpin cought in his throte and it's not a big deal. Maybe it was a feeder leg or part? :silent: If he starts making any sort of clicking sound when he breaths and starts gapping at all take him in and have him checked for respitory problems.
