Upset momma.

Well im going away for 5 days with my family, and was told that i am NOT allowed to bring Dexter.
So I had to hunt down a sitter.
I couldnt bare the thought of leaving her with people who havent cared for lizards before. I know id be on the phone to them once an hour! So I decided to book her in for "bed and breakfast" at our local Reptile Store.

Well I thought it'd be tough leaving her but oh my word I didnt think itd be this bad.

I took her into the store and the man took her from me. She immediately puffed and started hissing and him and trying to cling onto my jumper. When he finally got her from me she was desperately trying to jump onto me.
I could not feel like more of a neglectful momma as I turned away nearly in tears.

Every logical bit of me knows she's in the ebst place and will probably have the time of her life, but the rest of me is thinking:
no one will know how to stroke her the way she likes!
what if she refuses to eat again?
what if she gets upset?
what if she can see another dragon?
what if she hates me when i come back????

I miss my baby!!!!

Awww...I'm sure Dexter will be alright. When I went on vacation I took ALL of my tanks over to the in-laws, I had a notebook filled with instructions for everyone and I still called at least once a day :lol: . Even with all that Daytona didn't seem to notice that I had been gone at all. When I got back and went over to bring her home she actually gave me the "feed me" look.

That's so sad! You know you're a good mama though for putting her in the best place when you're away. She'll no doubt be happier there than being jostled around on vacation.

I'm sure even if she's a bit "cold" when you return she'll forget about it promptly when she's back home with you.

Dexter is home!


I raced to the shop as soon as I got home (I CERTAINLY didnt come home 8 hours early just to go get her sooner. certainly not. ahem)
And there she was! Happy as larry basking in a tank in the store.
When he held her in front of me she crawled onto me and clambered up onto my shoulder! She's given me a few death glares since she's been home to let me know she's not forgiven me yet. But im so happy she's home.

She's obviously been charming the fella's at the store. All 6 store workers came down to say goodbye to her and said what a stropy little madame she is, but how theyve loved watching her anyway ^_^

That is so sweet! Glad you were reunited.... I'll bet the fellas in the store are going to miss her Shows what a good beardie parent you are!
