Hey everyone- haven't been on in a looong time, busy with life and all that. I miss you all!!!!!

So for everyone who may remember, Stewie has had a long rough battle with yellow fungus.
http://www.beardeddragon.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=97333&hilit=

Well it too a YEAR!!! But we got it under control. After biopsies and meds and soaks and creams, he had sugery on his mouth. The fungus was starting to encroach from his lip into his mouth, so we had to get that surgical removed. It was sad. But now you can barely tell, half of his lip on one side is gone but it healed well. He actually managed to get plump and he's doing great now. He is 2 years 3 months old now, he is my snuggle buggle

Lola is another story. She is now 1.5 years old now. Starting in the fall she quit eating on her own. Went to the vet, we decided maybe semi brumation. But really, she didn't show most of the symptoms. I syringe fed her and waited for spring. She didn't really come around so..three vet visits later...grrr..here's where we are. Blood work, fecals, and all kinds of check ups were done. She showed some signs of having her first cycle, although we never felt eggs, knowing we may not feel them, we provided her with what she needed to lay eggs if she needed to her. Her calcium levels were really high too. She never laid eggs, but after a few weeks of waiting, syringe feeding. We wanted to make sure she wasn't egg bound. Back to the vet, he felt like her cycle was over, not egg bound, and reproductive issues were not the cause of her not eating. He cannot find any HEALTH reason as to why she won't eat. She is healthy except for this. A little thin, but he isn't concerned too much because I syringe feed, and her fat stores are good. So we talked about habitat. I took hides away because she would just hide, not get warm and therefore not eat. He said to give her back a hide on her hot and cool side, maybe she needed some security. Did that.

On the hot side, she hides in plants, its about 81. On her hammock where she basks (when I put her there) is about 100-101.5. I used to have it at 105, he said maybe that was too hot. I have a hide on her cool side and its around 70. She never goes to the cool side or hides there.

I soak her every two days, syringe feed every three days, per the vet I shouldn't wait longer than that 3 days if she doesn't eat. She isn't eating on her own at all.

She used to love roaches, butterworms, silkworms, hornworms, crickets sometimes....I have tried it ALL. I hold it in front of her, I put a worm on her hammock and leave, or stay, put a worm on her NOSE even..she doesn't do anything! I gave her nothing for 5 days except hydration, which made me feel awful, but I thought by now hunger HAS to overtake anything. The conclusion may be, is she spoiled? I don't want to hand feed her for the rest of her life. Really- you name a trick to tempt a beardie to eat, I have tried it. The vet said try bright foods, add flowers like clover, dandelion, hibiscus. She could care less what I put in her salad because she doesn't touch it.

So, the next step would be an ultrasound or xrays, which the vet doesn't really think we need to do, but he will, and I don't want to put her or my wallet through it. So before we go there...anyone have ANY IDEAS here? :banghead:

Wow, long time no see.
Glad that Stewie is over his fungus.
As far as Lola, I had the same problem with Waffle. He wouldnt eat for over a year. I took him to the vet, had blood work, xrays fecals, all kinds of stuff, and nothing wrong other than skinny. Finally, after over a year of no eating, he decided one day to eat. He still does not eat tons, but will eat better than he did, and more often. And he has gained weight.
So maybe Lola is just a strange one like Waffle. Hope she starts eating for you soon.

Thanks for the reply Jiffy! Your no longer a gray beard! Ya long time no see..life..beardies..keep ya busy:) Well I guess thats something..that Lola isn't a solo mystery case. But it still aggravates me to no end! We all feel like she's going to just die one day. Which is dramatic, but when I watch Stewie scarf down..with everything he's been through, and she doesn't...
Is there any husbandry that helped?

No, there was nothing at all that helped, not one single change. He would literally eat maybe 1 superworm a month and never a bite of veggies. I tried every day. I would do the baby food thing, didnt even seem to care about that. Tried waiting him out, he didnt care. Then one day, nothing different at all, and he just ate! I was so excited. He is still not as good of an eater as Foster or Brady, but he is up to 415 grams now, at 16 inches long. It was over a year from when he stopped eating till he at again. He was down to 335 not that long ago.
I thought he would never eat, so maybe Lola will do the same thing. There have been other cases on here of the same thing, and just one day, poof, like a new dragon!

I am having the same problem now also with the eating. It has only been about a week though. We have a vet appointment this week coming up. I am continuing to feed with a syringe. I will post any suggestions my vet has.

Cam won't eat any more either - we're stuck with the syringe too. My vet says sometimes beardies just get lazy and won't eat anymore... who knows why???

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
