Update on my baby

So a month (or two) ago I posted here showing pictures of my first beardie that I got, and I am back for an update!

The month I have had my little guy has gone so fast, school started, been workin hard, and also, the baby has been growing so fast...

Before he could only fit in my palm, and now is almost as long as my full hand... Oh yeah, HES FAT TOO!
Lately I have been feeding mealworms, I don't like crickets... After these run out though I'm more than likely going to buy the stinky crickets, don't want him to get to fat ;).

For the name, I am still deciding between Tweak and Ninja. I know my signature says Tweak, but I haven't made up my mind yet.

Tweak because he always trys to attack himself in the reflection of the glass sides of the cage,
Ninja because everytime he goes to his basking spot he leaps from the staircase to the top of the stick I put in :p .

Now for some pictures....

5 minutes after I got him from the expo.

Takin' a bath after shedding. (I gave him a bath the day before also, didn't think another would hurt)

Aww, Hes so cute :)

I do want to mention that mealworms can cause impaction, so its best not to feed them, especially to a beardie so young, and I totally understand not liking crix (those stinky, noisey things!) Have you thought about raising Dubia? They are easy to breed and way more nutritional than the mealies ur feeding now. Also those dial thermometers ur using can be WAY off, so be careful and make sure ur little tweak/ninja isnt getting too hot/cold. U can pick up a probe thermometer at walmart (over in the hardware section) for inside/outside (so hot and cold side) and humidity for $12. And does he have a UVB bulb? I didnt see one in the pic, The reptisun 10.0 tube or arcadia 12% tube are the only ones not known to cause problems, including blindness... Make sure its the tube NOT the coil, those are very bad. Without UVB he wont grow to full size and could get MBD, which would cause his bones to be brittle and twist.

Yes, I have a UVB, and I know that worms can cause impaction :p. I'm not to worried about that though because I get really small ones, and when he chews them, he chews so hard that sometimes he pops it in half and has to pick up the other one off the ground. And yes... I know the petco ones aren't good, and I am saving up for the pointing thermometer. I tryed raising Dubai's for my chameleon that I had, but it didn't turn out very well... some guy ripped me off and told me to get Turkish, the super fast ones, and I decided to get rid of them because I didn't want an infestation in my house.

He's so cute! His colors are really pretty too :love5: That last picture cracked me up hehe :)
I'm not sure where I stand on mealworms. I wouldn't use 'em but from what I've read/heard, some people don't have problems. Enough people have had impaction issues that there's a general consensus not to use them though. Like a, "not a guarantee that it will cause problems, but better safe than sorry" type situation. Just my $.02! ;)
Bummer about the creepy roaches though! One of the reasons Dubias are good is that they're tropical. That way if they do get loose, they'll just die instead of take over the place :)
Best of luck with school and your little guy! :) :)

What a cute lil guy you've got there! He definitely looks like a Ninja. :) Another alternative to the mealworms and crickets are reptiworms. They come in a few sizes, so you can get the right size for your beardie as he grows.
My husband and I have been ordering from this site for them

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
