Update on Chewie :) and question..

Hes just had his first shed and now currently has tints or orange which we both fine make him even more adorable..apart from when he decides to poop on me..Jase..or just nearly my laptop..not fun.

first had him..
to now..

and his viv which hopfuly will be transformed into a 4ft tank in 2 weeks

the question is would tiles be better than sand for his new tank? As I have read about the problems sand can cause but wondered what people prefer?

No sand for babies! I am not 100% knowledgable as some of the people on the board are but I can give you my best two cents Even calcium sand is dicey to use when they're young so I would just say no. How old is he and what's his length? This may be the wrong info but I've heard they can be moved to calcium sand once they are 8 inches + in length. I waited till mine were not only 8 inches but at the 5-6 month mark just to be extra careful and I've had no problems thus far. some people will even tell you to wait a full year before going to sand.

Sand = bad...

Impaction, dust, alergies, harder to clean...Go slate tile. Stylish, wipes off with a rag...

i used sand (for a wile) on my first dragon he was healy the whole time but the smeal was bad and it was hard to clean. pluss i didnt know the risks and i feal i was lucky and i will neaver use it again. pluss the fact it gets every were including there water and food. right now i am useing a towel till i can aford tile

tile is much better, easy to clean , and trims trims there nails! what more could you want

I use slate tile and love it - they clean up real easy and keep Alvin's nails trimmed down nicely.
