my female beardie has almost completely stopped eating her live food, and greens/fruit+veg. She laid eggs about 2-3 weeks ago and ever since then shes only eaten on about 4 -5 max occasions. and even when she has eaten, its only been about 2-5 locusts (being locusts because there more fattening and would get alot more goodness out of them) i did try her with crickets but she wasnt that interested. iv considered feeding her worms but i dont want her to get addicted to them and only eat worms and nothing else. Even before she laid her clutch of eggs she wasnt eating a great amount of food either.

does anyone know any reasons why she isnt eating or any tips on how to make her eat??

*UPDATE*she has now just threw up this thick, sticky liquid which im not sure what it is (could just be saliva?) and im wanting to know why she has done this and what it means????*

When they are ready to lay they're eggs, they stop eating, and when they are finished..they are supposed to be ravenous...so maybe she isn't done laying?? Did you make her a lay box?

yes, i gave her a lay box, then one day i noticed her digging in their and an hour later she was patting all the sand down to secure the eggs and was done. She laid 19 eggs and i cant feel no more in her belly. Also she hasn't been digging around her viv or shown any signs of still be being gravid. :?

Hopefully someone else will have some thoughts...I thought they would eat you out of house and home when they were done laying.

Can you syringe feed her? I blend up a mixture of greens and veggies, you could also mix in some carnivore care for protein. You don't think she could have more eggs to lay possibly? Have you tried giving her a warm soak? Hopefully a breeder will chime in here, as I'm sure they may know more about whats going on.

i am a 100% sure she hasnt got any more eggs to lay and yeah i thoguht she would have eaten tons of food aswell after laying but i guess not, and no i cant really syringe feed her. i already try to syringe feed her with some calcium medicine to get her calcium levels back up. But even thats only successful every couple of days because either she just dont take it, or gets really jumpy and ending up in me being unable to even get hold of her because shes too scared and runs away. So i dont really want to stress her out too much. and ye i give her a bath every couple of days and it dont bother at all, she just lays there for about 10 mins and then i know went she wants to come out because she will start to scratch at the sides.

Was she eating well before she layer her eggs? I'm sure you have tried putting her back in her lay box. Is she acting normal otherwise? I guess if she doesn't make any progress and you don't get some answers here...taking her to the vet might be a good idea.

ye she was eating fine until about 4 days before she laid her eggs which i expected because they do tend to stop eating before they lay dont they. and yes, and yes, except abit lazy. Most likely due to lack of energy im guessing. And im taking her to the vet one day soon actually
Thanks for the help anyway:)

Hello,

Is she exhibiting a darker than normal beard? If she is losing weight & has just laid eggs, it sounds like she is either egg bound or having other issues. I would get her to the vet in case of a problem with egg laying. An egg could have burst inside of her causing infection & or scaring. She should be eating quite a bit right now.
Which UVB light are you using currently?

Hi, sorry I haven't posted a reply in ages, comp broken :| but bin to the vets and been given medicine that she's supposed to have 3 times a day. I've resulted to force feeding because it's the only way she eats. But all the vet could say was that her insides weren't too good and only could offer medicine. But she's perked up abit and is pooing normal alot of the time now. And I'm using reptiglo 10.0 and it was only replaced a week ago so that's not the problem. But personally I think she's starting to get better but will just have to see :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
