So since I have started using shredded paper as a (temporary for the meantime) substrate, Iggy has started burying himself underneath it every night. The unusual bit is that he stays buried underneath well unto 12 PM and later, asleep, unless I un-bury him and then thus let him wake. I'm not even sure what the limit is, actually.

He no longer chases his crickets at feeding time either but only snatches up the ones that pass his field-of-view nearby, being very lazy about it. He still skitters about happily when let loose on the computer room's floor though, exploring where-ever he can (it's very large and even multi-storied for an individual room).

Is he getting ill or is Iggy just exhausted from the past few days, maybe? He's exhibiting no other signs of distress and rarely black-beards, unless his temperature isn't right on his basking spot due to me playing around with it too much. Or maybe if I haven't fed him enough. This is the thread I have created on his feces: https://www.beardeddragon.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=237483

Any help will be dearly appreciated, thank you.

He's settling into the spoilt / pampered pet beardie routine.

He knows more insects will come so he is no longer anxious about where his next meal of insects will come.

He's also discovered how good a thermal insulator loose paper is .... and he's taking advantage of it, he isn't stupid.

It's very likely he's up basking when you are not there to see it too.

I take that as a job well done then :) Of course, no job with any pet is truly done until they (unfortunately) pass from you. Originally, I didn't figure them for being that smart; since caring for Iggy, he's constantly given me surprises ^ ^

Is there anything I can do to simulate the feedings as if they are more like conditions in the wild? Or is that asking for too much? Thank you for the response too :)

I sometimes drop a silkworm or superworm on the floor .... works for my gang , but they also know where the treat came from and ask for more ....

Mine is doing the same since March... I have no idea if this is good or not. He pops up every few days then goes back into hiding. He hasnt lost any weight looks healthy but not sure if this is good in the long run. He doesnt feed himself either looks at the salad and thats it. So I hand feed him pieces here and there and also his worms.
Like you after a few days I pull him out of his hiding and place him on his basking spot but thats doesnt last long lol 1 day or two he goes back in

Anytime I see movement him scratching to get out its because he needs to poo thats the only time I see him moving and getting active...

*chuckles* I'm glad I'm not the only one 'suffering' :) But Iggy isn't quite that bad and I'm taking proactive steps to not let it get to quite that stage. I was placing Iggy on his basking spot manually a few times though, but then I noticed he started becoming dependent on me doing that for him so I stopped providing that kind of 'assistance' immediately.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
