I have questions about Lizzie’s recent behavior. She just went through a period of brumation, which scared the crap out of me because she almost didn’t even move for about 3 months. Once it warmed up, she perked back up and started eating/using the bathroom normally. Now she is glass surfing big time. I’ll let her out and she wants down immediately ( no snuggles as usual ☹️), and literally RUNS around the house until she finds the coldest, darkest, dirtiest spot to nap in ( generally the same spot every time) and goes to sleep. After she gets into her chill spot and chills for an hour or so, then I will pick her up for snuggle time. She is usually awful cold when I get her ( it’s pretty chilly in my house this time of year), so I will wrap her in her blanket and snuggle with her. Repeat process next day, though there sometimes I don’t get to let her out, not often though.
Set up is ( cuz I know someone will ask, lol)
Reptisun T5 HO hood, 30”
55 gallon aquarium ( I plan on getting a terrarium soon, my tank is long and tall but not very wide so I feel it is too small)
Tile substrate
Driftwood for basking
And a heat lamp, can’t remember what kind, but it doesn’t seem to do as good as a job as I want, gettin a new one soon.
She is fed turnip greens, zoomed canned dragon food ( I think is is mango and other fruits), zoomed canned crickets, fruit flies, or super worms. Calcium and vitamins are added once a week.
I do have a thermometer, temp stays 90 or above

Hey I'm no professional, but I was worried sick when my baby started doing those EXACT things out of no where... the glass surfing is probably just hormones because my girl stop ladies it occasionally, since spring is coming around, expect crazy behaviors like that! And the cold corner sleeping thing, my girl did the exact same thing, and still does, until I started leaving her in the enclosure longer, under the basking light, and took her out around 8pm when she looked tired, and put her to sleep in a dog bed with a blanket on top so my bedroom light doesn't shine through. I have been doing this for about a month now. So don't worry! Those behaviors are normal:)

Yep, that sounds like common behavior after brumation. I'm seeing it with my guy too. He is a ball of energy. If you give her free roam time, it may be helpful to set up a portable basking spot for her. She will learn to return to it when she gets cold and will just warm up/recharge rather than curl up and fall asleep. I have a few of them set up around the house and Darwin loves them.

That’s an awesome idea. I will have to do that. I’m not too sure I have a good basking light. I don’t remember what it is but do know I bought it from the pet store. What is a good light to use?

I'd start with one that puts out a wide beam and plenty of heat. A PAR38 halogen flood light works well but they are too heavy for a clamp lamp so you'll need an adjustable stand to hold it up. Just set it to a height that produces surface temps below it between about 100-115 or so. With the extra space to move away you can make the surface temps a bit higher than in the tank and see if they prefer it. Some of them do and some of them don't so just adjust based on their preference. If you want to add additional lights I've found that the 100w MegaRay bulbs work really well and produce UVB. That should sit about 12'' above the floor or basking spot. I've observed my dragon moving between the plain bulb and the MegaRay at different times of the day so they seem to like both depending on their mood.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
