Our beardie Apollo is about 14 months old. We've had him since April 2014. He's been doing great and adjusted easily to coming to our home. He's always been very friendly and pretty predictable with his eating, bowel movements and general behavior. He has had 1 full shed since he came to us. Suddenly the last few days he has had some strange behavior:

- Started spending more time on the cool side of his tank. Typically, he spends 95%+ of his time basking.
- He isn't eating much. That on its own isn't a concern since he does occasionally eat a little less. Usually when he is starting to shed.
- When I gave him a bath tonight he drank a lot of water while he was in there. I have NEVER seen him do that in the time we've had him. We had a water dish in his tank for a while but he never used it so we eventually took it out completely after I read here that it's not necessary.
- He is hissing at us, which is the thing that is most concerning to us. It happened yesterday when I reached in to pet his head and today when my son just walked into the room. Since he came to live with us, he has hissed only twice and only when our dog got a little too close for his comfort. He has always been very happy to be pet, held, etc.

It definitely sounds like something may be bugging him. Hard to tell if it's serious or just a mood though. Your setup looks good, I don't see any issues there. Does he have a black/dark beard for extended periods of time?

No dark beard for extended periods. He did push his beard out yesterday when he was taking a bath, but it wasn't dark and he settled down after a minute.

My son took him out this morning and gave him a bath. He had another bowel movement and it was normal. Plus, he acted like normal - no hissing, no drinking of water, no pushed out beard, etc.

Just now I looked over at him and his eyes were closed and bulging out. Another thing I have never seen. When I came over he opened them and they look normal now. I took him out just to look more closely at his belly and everything looks normal there. It doesn't seem to be hard or bloated. He's back in his tank now and he sitting like normal looking around.

The quick black beards and puffed out beards are normal. The eye bulging is usually done to help a face shed along. He may be moody because he's about to shed.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
