I noticed today that the underside of Rocko's back feet appear raw. I tried to search the board, but could not think of the right terms. Any idea what is going on here? His smallest toes also look a little bit swollen.

Hmm, that is strange. What type of substrate do you have?
One of my beardies, his feet get raw looking when he sheds, but they dont usually look like that.

What type of substrate is he on ? Do you use a heat rock at all? They can cause burns. Loose crickets leftover in the cage can come out and bite at night, but that would seem like an odd place to bite. Do you bathe him...if so, for how long and do you add anything to the water?

Substrate is tile (porcelain I believe). I do know that he does a lot of running back and forth the front of the cage, and his nails are well "trimmed" from that. Which makes me wonder if he has just rubbed his feet raw running back and forth? No heat rock and his basking site is a dimmed clear white spotlight bulb with temps around 98-100 degrees.

I use roaches as a feeder and he is fed in a separate container now, and haven't used crickets for around 2 - 3 months now. Before using the separate container I was feeding in the cage. Do dubias bite?

He receives baths 1-2 times weekly with regular water in a plastic tote.

I saw in another thread someone mention rawness possibly being related to gout or MDB. I have no idea what gout in a lizard would look like or how it manifests itself, and he does not appear to have "soft bones" for MDB. How would I be able to tell if he had signs of MDB? What exactly are soft bones like for a lizard? He doesn't appear to have mobility problems and I am using two 18" Reptisun 10 bulbs lengthwise on a 4 foot long tank.

I've never heard that a beardie could rub his feet raw just running like that, but I'm not sure there's any other explanation. Maybe someone can think of something. It's not MBD....the first sypmtoms are twitching toes, then lethargy, trembling off all limbs [ this is the BEGINNING of MBD, low calcium ] then it progresses to the soft bones, deformities of the jaw, lumps on the spine, twisted tail.

Not sure if it really shows from the picture, but it does appear that they are closed wounds and not bleeding at all. Hopefully that means whatever it is is healing. The thing that concerns me is the two smaller toes appearing swollen.

What is the recommended antibiotic cream? Just regular off-the-shelf Neosporin?

Yes, that should be fine for a minor wound. I hope he heals right up. Is there possibly anything that his toes could be getting snagged on, the inside of the enclosure door or some rough climbing rock ?

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
