Unable to remove UVB light please help

Recently brought a new UVB light, this is the first time we have replaced our UVB bulb. Unfortunately, my dad and I have been unable to remove the old UVB, from what it looks like the fittings have got black and might of melted around the old UVB. Any help would help thanks

If it's one of those coil lights you should be careful to not break it since it is filled with some sort of chemical. You could try unplugging it from the power source and trying some W2 40 on it to see if it loosens. If it's a rugular bulb with out any toxins in it you can break it and remove it with needle nose pliers. Just please be careful and don't cut yourself or release any poisonos fumes if it's those new coil types.

Whoa, hold on there.

Even the regular flourescent bulbs contain Mercury.

You really don't want to break them if you don't have to (and they should go to a real recycle place).

If the electrical contacts have somehow been fused to the fixture or parts of the fixture have melted

around the contacts, then you most likely shouldn't be using that fixture anyway. They aren't supposed to do that

If that's really the case, I personally would throw it away and get a new one. You can get T8 types cheap at walmart for $9.00 or so.
