Ummm...eating shed skin???

Yoshi has been shedding some today. He has shed part of his beard and I went over to check on him because he was rubbing his face when I noticed he was chewing on something. It was part of his beard that he had shed. He actually ate it.

Has anyone elses beardie done this? I have never seen Yoshi do this before.

Well I'm pretty sure my Han has done it when I'm not paying attention, but I've never actually observed it, I read somewhere that its normal and allegedly very healthy for them, I don't know about the benefits, but I don't think it can be harmful in any way.

Thank you so much for your quick response Yoshi has probably done it before and me not notice as well. It was just so funny to see him snacking on his shed like that.

I haven't seen my bearded dragon eat his shed skin, but it was pretty standard for smaller lizards I kept in my youth (green anoles, various small geckos).

Most lizards do it, and it's really nutritious for them so dont worry, your beardie is fine!
