Hi all,

My female bearded dragon, who last year had a "hysterectomy" which we payed £250 for, has just laid eggs!

We think there may have been a possibility that she has mated with our male bearded dragon as we let them on the floor together.

She has only laid 6 eggs - she has meant to have had her ovaries removed though, and I definately saw one, so she may only have one ovary, how many more do you think there is? She appears to have stopped laying, but obviously we're not sure.

We've got her in a make shift lay box for the time being and the two eggs which we believe are viable in a make shift incubator at 84F.

Please provide any information that you can. We're rather worried here!!

Thanks,

Nikki

i would definitely contact the vet that did the "supposed" surgery as having had a hysterectomy would mean all of her reproductive organs removed.

I have contacted the vet, whenever they do a hysterectomy they remove the 'bad' ovary as usually only one works, 1 in 1000 cases the other ovary grows and develops and begins to work. Thus is the case!

a hysterectomy is typically the removal of the uterus
now if she had a partial hysterectomy it would be what you are talking about where they only remove the bad ovaries. Did you pay for a partial or full hysterectomy?

I have no idea, i paid £250. She was egg bound and they said if they didn't give her a hysterectomy she would die the next time she tried to lay eggs because the ovary wasn't releasing the eggs.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
