I was planning on upgrading my beardie viv a little and putting in tile instead, but isn't slate somewhat porous and can absorb some of the liquid from the poop and harbor bacteria or something? I was researching a while ago and I had thought I'd read that somewhere.

What other types of tile would work well and looks good?

Hello, personally I would go with ceramic tiles as they have some surface friction/texture to it so your beardy won't be sliding around, easy to clean, absorbs heat, & they come in a variety of paterns and colors

Here's an article about ceramic and porcelain tile, you'll find some useful information here about the tile. http://www.floorology.net/article/what-is-the-difference-between-ceramic-and-porcelain-tile

My apologies as I do not know how to shorten the url.

Also here's another forum that talks about what other substrates you can use

Hope this was helpful, have a good day/night!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
