My boyfriend and I brought two baby bearded dragons home two days ago. Gandalf(I'm assuming is a boy) is about 4-5 inches and Pedey (Smaller, so maybe a girl? I call him "he" for now) is 3-4 inches. Gandalf is larger than Pedey, and is very active; He climbs, turns his head to look at you, runs after food, basks frequently, runs up your arm if you pick him up, etc. Pedey, on the other hand, seems to lay in one spot with his head down. He doesn't climb high, not under the light, like Gandalf and doesn't run very much after food. We are feeding them small crickets, and I have seem Pedey eat 7 on day 1, and probably 2 yesterday and today. Gandalf seems to help himself. When I pick him up he doesn't move and falls asleep. He generally doesn't react when I walk past the tank, and he hardly moves in general. I am wondering if he is just scared of his new environment, or maybe just too small to be active. I do not know if the two are from the same hatching, we got them from Petsmart. Just making sure nothing is wrong with him...I sprayed him with a water mist a few minutes ago and he raised his head, but then put it down after a minute and still has not moved. I didn't want him to overheat or anything...
Our tank is 4 feet long and 12 inches deep, a 50 gallon tank. We have reptile carpet, a 100 watt Sunglo light, a 75 watt basking spot light, and two 50 watt night lights. The tank is approximately 100 degrees in the daytime, and 65 degrees at night. We keep water in the tank, and a few crickets jumping around. They have grapevines, and two hammocks under the basking bulb, and a hiding spot on the other side of the tank.
Any ideas? We haven't touched them very much, only to move so we could redecorate the tank...and not at all today...
