Twitching

I've had my bearded dragon for about two weeks now, and tomorrow I'm getting him the Reptisun 10.0 and at the moment he's in this little thing, http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4070846

I'm worried from not having the correct UVB he's devolping MBD. Is it to late to stop this process? I'm going immediately after work tomorrow to get him the bulb, and a Calcium supplement. What other vitamins/supplements would you recommend that I wouldn't have to get from a vet?

I'm worried about him, but at the same time I'm unsure if it's an actual twitch, or an itch. He's in the process of shedding at the moment, and he quits twitching when I spray him with warm water in my hand.

Any help?

Hi there,

I am glad you will be picking up what you need tomorrow! That is good.

Can you describe the twitching? Does it seem uncontrolled or does it seem more of him trying to rub his face against his log/ground to loosen the shed?

It's more his back legs that twitch ever so slightly, and he's breathing slightly harder then usual. But when I put him in my hand he stopped twitching, and slightly crawled up my arm when I misted him, but ended up just sitting there and enjoying the spray.

This is also the first shed he's had as he's only around 3-4 weeks old unsure of age I got him fro. PETsMART. He's only grayed up on his tail, and back feet at the moment so they may be an itch

If it isn't just an itch what brand/type of vitamin or supplement would be best to start him on?

The back feet twitching can definitely be a sign of calcium deficiency . There's a big difference between scratching a body part [ like a dog would do ] and a gentle , very slight trembling [ calcium deficiency] Deficiencies of magnesium or glucose may also cause slight trembling. Getting the proper set up and supplements should help very quickly, also exposure to natural sunlight.

Oh, and for supplements you can go with Rep -cal with D-3 for calcium dusting, [ on one feeding per day, very lightly coated, as he grows use it only every other day] and Rep- Cal Herptivite vitamin coating [ also very lightly ] twice a week, then once a week as he nears adult size. With a dragon that eats a large variety of veggies, you may not need the vit. except every other week, or not at all.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
