Trying to dig????

I'm fairly certain Yoshi is a boy. The vet said he was, and he's an actual herp vet. But today he started trying to dig underneath his basking log. And he's never done that before. Any ideas? He's also not really basking much. He'll bask a little after he eats but not like he used to. He used to be out all the time.

Hey Sashee, you know the drill.....can you post a pic of his / her vent ? Arch the tail back and twist very gently to the side. How old is he / she ?

Is he just trying to get comfy? Dudley will try to dig when he is about to go to sleep, like he is trying to make his bed just right. There are actual claw marks in one corner of his shelf liner, and his fleece took some serious abuse as well!

When mine started to dig around like crazy, I just put her in a lay box and the next day there were 18 eggs there waiting for me Infertile though.

Some dragons will dig just for something to do, or when bored, looking for a way out or to find a place to hunker down, as was mentioned. But it would be good to post a pic to be sure that it's not a female after all.

I will love Yoshi just the same, but I kinda hope he's actually a he...

I also clipped his claws for the first time like, last week. Maybe that has something to do with it too???

Hard to tell with the stress marks/markings on the tail. I don't see his femoral pores though. Try getting a picture more of his tail with a light over it.
I'm thinking girl but it's hard to tell.

My juvie female just plain likes to dig. I just redid her tank today to give her a little sand box in the hide under her new basking platform she absolutely loves it, went to it at bed time and made a bed, I'd have let her sleep in it but it's still a bit damp and I'm currently very paranoid about her and Kira catching Lagu's fungus. So maybe try giving him a little sandbox? Couldn't hurt!

Wow Sashee, Mellu is right....that is a difficult one to see. I can barely make out what looks to be a slight bulge on one side in the first [ ? ] pic....if you could get a different angle, or twist the tail very slightly as you have it arched, that would help.

Yeah, it's hard to tell. Maybe Yoshi is a hermaphrodite?
I'm thinking of making a digging box for Dudley, with alfalfa pellets or millet for the substrate. Maybe he would like it!

I think I'm gonna leave him alone for a bit. He's prolly stressed cuz I keep messing with his tail and surrounding area. He wasn't hiding today and there was a full moon, so maybe that's where his attitude is coming from.
