True dwarfism?

I have an odd ball baby hatch recently.
He has little/no neck, a stout round body and a strange tail. His limbs seem normal though. I was wondering if he/she might have dwarfism.
It eats well and gets around fine. It is just special :)

Hoping to find out some information about dwarfism. Mostly, I'm concerned about whether or not it will live to a healthy age.
Would love to hear about anyone one else who has experienced this!

This pic shows it with a normal sibling

I had one hatch out at 2 1/2 inches once. The egg was so tiny I assumed it was a dud, but decided to put it in the incubator anyway and it hatched with the rest. It never showed any interest in food or basking and just kinda withered away. It looked exactly like its siblings in every way, but half the size.

I've seen a couple pictures online a long time ago of another little one that looked more like yours(regular sized head, no neck), and he was growing up fine.

Isn't that a morph that someone came up with? Short bodies and no neck, but otherwise completely normal? Where did you get the dragons that produced this clutch? It could just be a fluke. Honestly, when I first saw this type of morph I figured it was just the results of poor genetics and possibly inbreeding. I don't say this to imply that your dragons are poor quality, or inbred, just that this genetic "mishap" seems to have popped up every now and then from certain breeders and I figured they weren't intentionally trying to produce this morph due to the low numbers they seemed to produce.

Would be interesting to know the bloodlines of your dragons and whether the breeder has a history of producing these guys.

I can't help you in identifying a cause, but from here, your little guy looks healthy to me. And adorable!!! Good luck with him, and please keep us posted. :)

Well, after scouring Google I have come up empty handed with regards to the short bodied morph. I know for an absolute fact that I saw several for sale a 1-2 years ago, but I can't find any information on them. They were advertised as dwarfs, and looked just like that little guy...normal heads legs and tails, but really short bodies and virtually no neck. I think they were listed on Kingsnake. Apparently there was little interest, as the morph has died out. I sure do hope that little guy stays happy and healthy!

Well dad is a orange pastel OGG with Daichu and Georgia dragon lines. Mom is from a local breeder. I bought her two years ago and never found out much about her. She is a nice pale citrus.

He is very cute though! I've been debating on what to do with him. I feel weird trying to sell him, since I know nothing about his life expectancy. I don't want to advertise giving him away, because I want him to go to a home with knowledge and understanding that he might always be a little special. I could keep him, but I think he would do better being with someone with less dragons and can give him more one on one time.

I'm sure you could find someone on here to take him and care for him properly. He is super cute! I would just be afraid to get too attached to him, not knowing the outcome of life expectancy :( But like I said, I'm sure someone here would be interested if they would pay for shipping.. I would too want to see him go to a great home.

He is cute if mom wouldn't kill me I would I only have one beardie named monty. And 4 other lizards two leopards an anole and a water dragon. I am about to have 3 spare tanks mom would probably not mind since he/she is so cute. If it turned out to be a him id call him tiny tim if he stayed dwarfed.lol

To bad we couldn't xray him and a regular looking one next to each other.

As far as rehoming him goes, I'm sure you'll find someone pretty easily. He'd probably even sell at a standard price faster than his siblings sense hes so cute and seems to be doing well. People would know that obviously hes a little different and that there are unknowns about how this will affect him as he grows up. If there are more of these out there someone might even want to try breeding them as long as it just makes them look cute and doesn't affect them negatively.

A deformity shouldn't never be bred, not matter how cute it is. You can see that his tail is kinked and I'm betting that he has other internal problems. I have a relative who bred dragons for a number of years and I've seen a few of these stubby babies, they usually don't live more then a few months.
I've also see true dwarves with short little legs, they don't usually do very well either.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
