Hi there-

Friday I completed and moved my BD into his new enclosure (4X2X2) . Because the new viv doesn't fit where his old viv was - I moved him about a week ago into the new room so he could get used to the surroundings of that room since it is more of a "high traffic" area. I thought it would make things easier on him. But now he's been going through relocation stress for over a week and not eating much at all....just sitting in one spot, not basking or moving around at all :D

Question: Now he is in the big viv with very little cage furniture. I just moved his old basking rock and ramp into there to give him something familiar. Should I rush to complete the rest of the furniture (rock wall and foliage vines) so that he doesn't get freaked out again later or try to get him to resume eating and introduce things slowly ?

Any suggestions appreciated. :D

I would suggest introducing new things slowly and once he has adjusted to all the current changes.

Thanks.....I will try that . He just looks so lonely and lost in there with all that space and nothing to jump and climb on ... his old viv had very little in it because he just got over a battle with coccidia. I threw away all his old stuff because it was porous and hard to clean and didn't buy any new stuff because the new viv was under way.

Poor little fellow...hope the coccidia doesn't come back  :(

Do you have a background poster so he doesn't feel so exposed in the new area? And a log or cave of some sort to hide in? He may feel better if he can hide out for a few days. Also, you may want to reduce the hours his lighting is on since it's brumation time. He may just want some good rest. And I would get a fecal done to recheck for parasites. If you just drop it off at a clinic and have them call you it is cheaper than a visit and doesn't take much time. Hope your dragon feels better soon.

Thanks....no I don't have a background in there because I haven't seen any that large that I like....there isn't any reflection from the back wall or sides though . I'm scared to put a hide in there because I'm afraid then he'll stay in there all the time.He spends most of his time at the front glass though....I would have expected him to go to the back ???? I decided to introduce things to the viv slowly...maybe once a week....

He's making me feel terrible because he still refuses to eat much of anything. :( Poor thing. I've been forcing him babyfood every few days just to make sure he has something in him.

Thanks for the tips

take care and best wishes to you and your dragons.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
