trouble with back grounds,

hi all,

just a quick question. am having trouble with back grounds as they keep flaking, diesel loves her back drops but they keep flaking from the heat, is there anything i can do or a good back ground out there that will not flake from heat????

Is it mainly just happening around the the basking bulb or are they flaking everywhere?

hiya,

more so around the basking area, but its like wall paper once it starts it all starts to go, the temps are spot on an everything else is fine, shes happy and well but ive had to take the back drop out just in case she starts to eat the flakes

am thinking of buying a new back drop and getting some clear plastic sheeting to cover the back drop before putting it back in, (if you get me) but is there an easyer way or a heat prof back drop that you no of?

There really isnt anything I can think of. I would be leery of putting any plastic over that since it is obviously very close to the bulb. Is there a way you could just move the bulb? Can you post a few pics of the viv?

to be fair the heat bulb isnt that close, nor the vub bulb, but that runs across the top. but i wil check for some photos, hold on lol x

Hmm you are right. It isn't that close.

Aside from just not using a backround I am not sure it there is anything to help. Those backrounds weren't really designed to be used the way you are using it.

yeh i kinda guess they are for putting behind glass, hmmm oh well i guess i could hang fake plants etc just to add some colour,

You could use some bamboo or something. Look through the viv pics only thread. There are TONS of ideas int here.

I have been using aquarium background, which comes laminated, ive been using the same sheet now for a year with no problems! Perhaps you could try that??

Oh wait you have been, just looked at the pictures, sorry, ive not had an issue with them, perhaps a bamboo background would be better, as previosly suggested

yeh i think i might try the hole hanging plants/vines etc am sure she will like it.
prob safer too, she wont be tempted to eat them. .... or will she lol
shes runing around now, i think she is wondering where her back drop has gone coz she is trying to head butt the white wood back ground.
