Trimming long curly nails?

Hey all!! I just recently got a rescue (maybe 3-4yrs old, has MBD) and I’ve noticed she’s got some gnarly nails. I’m looking at this one in particular though. She’s already missing 4 toes (1 from each foot)so she has trouble climbing sometimes, and I want to help her however I can, and so of course I want to get these nails taken care of. I understand how you trim usual nails. But how do you safely handle a long curled nail such as the one here?

Try it like this guy does, start at the 2 minute mark. These aren't curly but they're long.

This one suggests a dog or cat nail trimmer would be better and not as much risk as a flat nail clipper of cracking the nail.
