my friend just cuts her beardies nails with regular nail cutters (for people) it all depends on how comfortable you are doing it. :D

My personal opinion is that if they are only catching on your clothes and not really causing a problem other than that I think you should leave them. Mine seem to need them to help them climb their tree and stuff :study: :study: :study: :study: .

Thats cool that you decided to go with a bearded dragon they are awesome. My biggest bierdie Ducky has pretty sharp nails he just uses them to climb up my shirt to fall asleep on my shoulder he dos not scratch though. You should post some pics we would love to see them (or him)

PS If you need help uploading pics just let me know and I can give you the site everyone here uses it is so easy my 9 year old niece can do it (no offense)

I choose to trim my dragon's nails once in a while, to make it more comfortable to hold her. The first time I went to the vet, and the technician showed me how to doit, now I do it at home with a standard nail clipper. It takes usually less than 5 minutes.

You can use some baby human nail clippers. Just trim the small tiny sharp tip off. I was actually just doing that. I don't clip often, but Diablo put a scratch on my neck that was pretty nasty.....some people at work actually asked me how I got scratched.....and he can still climb trees.

I trim Maxxs' nails occassionally. I use a small cat trimmer and a smaller rotor....that's what my vet suggested. It works really well....the best time to do it is at bed time, when she is getting sleepy and will be still. I just trim the very ends so they don't catch on everything.

The very tips are the only area necessary to trim. If you put a basking rock or tile in there, they will file themselves down.

Once it warms up, let him roam on some concrete.

I'm almost worried about doing it... Are they like dog's toe nails with a vein that goes into the nail? We had an incident with my dog once because of that. I wouldn't even bother with it, but Smurf can actually cut me if he struggles. My mom thinks that a nail file would work well just to keep it under control.

Smurf has a rough log and a rock to file them down on, but it doesn't seem to work.

They do have the vein, called a quick. It will never meet the very tip. Just snip the very tip. A nail file tickles and they probably won't be too happy about it.

You have to clip the very tip, the last mm of nail. It does not seem like much, but it makes a difference when the nails scratch at your skin!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
