Treatment for eye problem

Hi,

My 7 months old bearded dragon's left eye is watery and having some discharge. I suspected it is because of the coiled UVB I provided before. But I stop giving him already. I read somewhere from the net, to reduce bearded dragon's eye irritation it is suggested to give them normal saline as an early treatment. But will it be OK if I substitute normal saline with artificial sterile eye drops (hydroxyethylcellulose 0.7mg)?

Hi there.....hopefully his eyes will be feeling better soon + are not too damaged. I'm not sure about those drops, but when my beardie's had eye problems I used raw [ unpasteurized ] honey from the health food store or local beekeeper. It's a very effective antimicrobial/anti-inflammatory to use on any wound, including directly in the eye. You just dilute it with 2 parts warm water and apply with a Q-tip 2-3X a day.

Never Use coil lamps. It will ruin you beardys eyes. One thing you can do is give her a bath. usually it may clear out his/her eyes. it may be ok but coil lamps are the worst uvb lamps ever. try just getting a powersun mercury vapor bulbs. Those are the best uv bulbs in the world. I use them for mine.

Hello,

What type of basking light are you using, a bright white light or a colored light?
How is he doing today, has he shown any interest in eating?

Let us know how he is doing & how his eyes are doing.

He is totally fine. Very active and eat and poop well.

Abt the basking bulb, it's a bit complicated tho. See, my beardie refused to be kept inside his cage. I don't know why but since I bought him, he is like that. He tried to escape and turned himself dark if I caged him. So ended up, I simply let him walk free in my room with monitor. So I don't actually bask him since he refuses it.

Hello,

So he does not have a warm/hot spot that he can have access to on a regular basis?
It is very important for overall health that they do have access to a hot basking spot of around 95-110 range to help keep their immune system boosted. If chronically kept too cool, they can suffer from respiratory issues among other health problems, too.
How are you keeping the UVB above him?
Free roam is fine, but they must have access to UVB & heating on a relatively constant basis.

How are his eyes doing?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
