tough love

My beardie is 6 months old.On up till now I've spoiled her and feed her what see wants(roaches).I want her to start feed on more veggies so the last few days I've only offered her turnip greens,and squash.I noticed some gone not much.My question is has anybody used tough love on there beardies?and did it take on after a while?I know she can go for a while without feeding shes got plenty of chub,but I hate to see her hungery.When I put the veggies in her viv I get the ol stink eye.Any advise would be apprieciated.Thanks Dale.

I tried the tough love thing, but always caved after a couple days. I've read where others have held out longer and it does eventually work. As beardies grow up and become adults, they need 20% live feeders and 80% veggies. Whereas, when they're young it's the opposite. But so many young ones will not eat their veggies very well. Mine included.

Fortunately, our Izzy just kind of natually started eating more veggies and less feeders right around 11 months or so. Maybe instinct? Not sure. but it ended up being an easy transition after struggling for months to get him to eat veggies.

I've got 2 baby beardies (unnamed at the minute) only got them on saturday but luckily one of them munched down on carrots from Sunday, the skinnier one not so good, tried with carrot an apple an grape an it was having none of it. Just had fed it some cress with massive success, ate 3 pieces from my fingers and is now happily tucking into it on the tray i put in the viv.

Try different veg an fruit just incase what your offering is not appreciated by your beardie

Also heard from someone baby food apple puree goes down a treat, not sure how true this is and haven't tried it yet, but could be worth a go
