Tortoise Help!!!! Please.......

I have a baby Hermann tortoise that I've only had for a couple weeks, he/she is only 2.5 inches long. Over the past couple days i've been noticing that her eye has had alot of crud around it and today it looks almost swollen shut. Everytime it gets like this I soak her and clean it up and it opens.....but obviously it keeps happening so something is wrong.

I just called the vet and they want $75 to even look at her and they can't get me in until next week.

Is there anything I can do right now? Please help me, it makes me sick when my animals are hurting.
