Spike is very lethargic all of a sudden, and isn't eating at all. He has a poo every morning, but just sits on his rock or log all day and doesn't move. When his lights go out, he lays flat on the bottom of the tank over the area where the heat pad is. Is he brumating or is he too young for that?

Here are all the vitals:

How old is your dragon? about 5-6 months
How long have you had your dragon? 4 months
How long is your dragon? 9 inches nose to tail tip, 4 1/2 inches nose to vent
What is the sex of your dragon? Male, we think
What size enclosure do you have your dragon in? 20 gal. long tank
What type substrate do you have on the bottom of your tank? textured shelf liner
Do you use UVB lights? Yes, Reptisun 10
If so, Is it a coil, compact, fluorescent tube, or Mercury Vapor bulb? Tube
What is the brand name and number of your bulb? Wattage (if MVB)? Reptisun 10
How old is your UVB bulb? 1 month
How close can your dragon get to the UVB? about 8 inches
Do you use a separate basking bulb? What kind and what is the wattage? yes....a 60 watt regular light bulb for added heat and a 60 watt halogen spot bulb
What are the basking temps? 102-104
What is the cool side temp? 85
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun? wire probe
Where exactly are you taking your basking temps? right next to the basking log
Do you use a heat rock or heat pad? under tank heat pad
What do you feed your dragon? Please be specific. greens (turnip, mustard and collard), thawed frozen mixed veggies, and crickets
How often do you feed and what time do you feed (morning, afternoon, night)? greens are available all the time, crix offered in the morning (about 7 a.m.) and again in the afternoon
Do you gutload (feed) your crickets, worms, etc? yes
Do you use vitamin or calcium supplements? What brand(s)? How many days a week do you use each of them? crix are dusted every day with ReptoCal calcium with D3
Is your dragon having regular bowel movements (poops)? yes
Do you bath your dragon? How often? yes, every couple of days
Do you mist your dragon or offer water other than in the bath? yes
Does your dragon share an enclosure with another dragon? no
Have you gotten a vet check and fecal done? no

Hello,
Sorry your BD isn't feeling well. I'm not a fan of the undertank heaters and it would better to have him in a bigger enclosure since he's growing so fast and then you could get the cool side a little cooler. He is too young for brumation. Possibly parasites. I think it's best you get the little guy to the vet.
Good luck.

Thank you for your reply! :) We are looking at larger tanks for Spike. I don't know what a normal size for a 6 month BD is, but he seems to have stayed the same size for the past couple of months. I have to take our schnauzer in tomorrow because they think he is diabetic (its lovely when ALL the critters get sick at the same time!), so I'll ask about getting a fecal done for Spike.

Well, poor Spike didn't make it  The vet that takes exotics wasn't in over the weekend, and Spike left us yesterday afternoon. Actually, it was a bad weekend for critters in this house....our Schnauzer was diagnosed with diabetes and our gerbil died on Friday...I'm feeling cursed.
We enjoyed Spike during the brief time he was with us, and plan on getting another beardie soon. Thank you to all for your input and advice :)

So sorry your children lost two pets in one weekend this close to Christmas. My thoughts and prayers are with them. I'll try to post the Rainbow bridge for them. Katherine finds it comforting.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
