Too small??????

I was hoping to convert an old chest I found in the garage into a cage for Sheldon.
It is 4ft long 16in tall and 18in deep. Is this too small? I know that it's long enough, but is it deep enough and tall enough? Also, should I coat the inside with anything or keep the wood as is? Thanks :)

48L is good, 18W is good, but 16T is iffy, because you couldn't mount the Heat Fixture on the Inside, it would have to be on the outside, but the UVB Fixture could be Mounted on the Inside. You could alway's cut a Small Hole on the Top where you want the basking Light to be, Screen the Hole, then sit your fixture on top of the Screen "like the Dome Fixture's" and I would say just Seal the inside of it.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
