So my bearded dragon is about 18 inches he's fairly close to a year old we got him in May and he was approx two months so probably about 8-9 months but I'm worried he's too skinny he hasn't been eating much lately either it's not to the point where I can see his bones but when I hold him at the base of his head theirs two small bumps shoulder blades ?? They move when his arms move so I assume that's what they are and then at the base of his tail I can feel his tail bone ... Is this normal he's pretty muscular as well and is strong and verry active but he won't eat crickets anymore he refuses to eat his pheonix worms so I've had no choice but to give him super worms he's even more stubborn with his greens kale he's okay with but he prefers endove wich I havents been able to find since winter started and still loves his collard greens ive also tried Swiss chard and dandelion greens ( he didn't like either of those )

His temps are normal and he has a 10.0 repti sun for his basking im just worried that he's not big enough for his age

Sure the shoulder bumps are hard to see on camera but I have a good one of his tail I'll up load in a sec are dubia roaches hard to keep ?? Do they escape easily ?? Lol I didn't mind crickets lose on occasion but roaches might be a different story :p

From those two pics alone, he doesn't look too skinny to me, but he might look thinner from different angles. He looks lean and healthy and has a nice tummy when he stands! I think he looks really good. Do be careful with feeding the superworms though. While they are convenient and people say they are good as a staple, the dragons (mine at least as well as my leo) get mega addicted to their fatty nuttiness and since they are high in fat, after a year or two of using them as staples, I have an overweight dragon and a rather thick Leo.
Do you have a scale you can weigh your dragon on? Like a food one that measures in ounces or grams?

Now I feed dubias, and since you asked, I don't find Dubias hard to keep at all. There are plenty of guides in the feeder section on them, and as for them escaping, I know plenty of people don't, but since I sometimes forget to shut the lid or don't tape down screen all the way (or drop them), I find them every now and then in my room haha. I don't mind them so it's not a huge thing for me. You just have to make sure to keep moisture in the cage down so it doesn't mold =,= My roaches mold a lot, so I mostly just feed them carrots and bananas and squash, and throw in a piece of bread every now and then. I've been keeping them like that for like 2 years now and I have more roaches than I can deal with now.

Thanks ... Lol yea my bf and our land lord don't wat roaches in te house .... I'm super strict with his super worms he usually gets at the most 5 but on occasion he'll get ten but never more than that .... Idk he went off his crickets before I gave him super worms then I tried phonix worms and he ate those and he still does but he's just kinda like ... Ooh these again .... Meh .... I guess I'll have some U know ?? So then I tired superworms and he was like what's this ... Ooh I like theese lol ... Of course he's been stubborn with his veggies too but now he's back on them wich is good .... But I don't wanna stick with superworms because their so fattening what about waxworms ??

He looks great to me too!
Dubias are super easy to keep. They don't smell as bad as crickets, they're healthier for ur dragon, and they can't jump or climb glass. (I use tongs tho cause I still can't stand to touch them. Lol)
I don't breed them. I just go to a local reptile store and buy a container w/ 100 in it at a time. U can keep them in the same container they come in and put veggie scraps in there. Really low maintenance.

Oh okay that doesn't sound too bad I'll have to see if I can get them in Canada Cuz I know that certain feeders are considered I guess illegal in Canada or so I've heard at least Id probably use tongs too I use tongs on his super worms lol pheonix worms I can touch but the flies I refuse to go near don't kow why I know their harmless lol

Oh yeah, I guess depending where you are in Canada, they're probably illegal. I think Discoids(another type of feeder roach) are legal though I live in the states so I'm not certain. They are also a bit smaller I THINK but I might be wrong again, since I've never had discoids.

And don't feed waxworms any more than just once or twice a week or less since those are SUPER fattening for the dragons. Only once in a blue moon I'll give mine waxies and only if it's been awhile since they've had any. I did give Waxworms to my female who had just come out of brumation and looked a little thin, but only a few that day.

Also a food scale would work just fine to weigh your boy =)

Hehe they are so cute when they are sleepy. My boy doesn't brumate really, he just hides in his kleenax box looking groggy and uninterested in life/food.

Also from what I was told about my own male dragon, a good weight for your boy's length would probably be around 375-480 grams or maybe even a bit heavier. =)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
