I am taking a crack at breeding morphs for the first time and have talked to a couple of breeders who advised me not to get outrageous colored females because males weren't as attracted to them as much as normal colors. I have a pretty orange trans pos hypo, that i want to breed with my hypo partial trans. Here is a picture of the female in question. The camera didn'y capture her true colors as well as I would have liked. She is almost a neon orange/yellow. Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Rommell

I can't answer your question (I've only had my beardie, Falkor 2 & 1/2 mths... but I did look at the pic and that is one beautiful beardie! Good Luck!

Dragons don't care looks smell or creed! As long as they are proper weight, in good health and well rested up when the season hits look out! Cute pooper by the way!

I'm in agreement with Lance, A healthy male and female aren't going to notice color when breeding time rolls around. I've done a lot of research and have never seen any proof that intense color of a female would keep a male from wanting to breed.

Not saying this isnt possible because im sure it is to a certain extent. I have a male that only would breed 1 particular female in my colony. Then I have Dozer who would mate the cat if I let Him. Each pooper is different. IF and I stress IF you are ready to give breeding a try only your male dragon can answer this question. The only thing I suggest is be prepared and do your research, buy the thing you need BEFORE you need them.

I've heard from reputable breeders much the same stuff. But think about this, is it more cost effective to have a bright colored male? Of course, since he can be bred to multiple females. If there is a problem breeding bright RED females, then I think it can be overcome by particularly "enthusiastic" males, just not the one you probably had in mind. Bright colored females look good on the web page, but they carry the same genetics as a sibling for more than double the price.

I think the problem really only becomes visible when you have your heart set on a specific pairing and it just doesn't happen. If you breed enough it will eventually happen to you. We had this happen this fall, but we had a back up plan to make everything happen.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
