Too close to UVB?

I am not sure what is up with my dragon tonight but right now he is trying to lay on top of the uvb tube light. He is litterally standing on a rock with his front fingers hanging onto the uvb fixture and trying to put his face onto the bulb. He is certainly not cold...... His temps are fine... his uvb is a 36in reptisun 10.0 tube. Which is mounted on the inside of his viv .. the cover is off of the fixture. Should I put the cover on? move the rock so he can't get at it? or is this just a nutty behaviour that will pass?

Actually, there isn't a PowerSun tube, could you look at the bulb itself and tell us the brand? What are his basking & cool side temps and what type of thermometer are you using?

Sorry. It is reptisun 10.0 tube.. .(I had just read a thread on powersun...lol) His basking is 105. His cool is 84. His viv is 100G. The tube is 1 wk old., Digital thermometer with probe.

Oh, ok, that makes sense. :mrgreen: It's easy to confuse posts sometimes.

It isn't good for your beardie to be able to get any closer than 6" from the UVB, it won't burn him but the UV rays would be too strong. If you put the plastic cover on, it will totally block the rays which isn't good. Is your beardie a very active & curious baby? How old? Have you only had the UVB for a wk?

Hi. My bd is approximately 4 mths and yes he is very curious.. I had a different uvb that was used before it was also Reptisun 10.0. And did not know exactly how old it was. I figured I should get a new one so then I would know.

I guess I will have to m ove the rock. It is one that attaches to the glass with magnets. Notba basking etc. Just a spoiled dragon accessory.
