Just wanted to add another "no worries and you are NOT alone by any means!" :) I'm glad Lyla is a-okay! I'm also glad you posted this because it is a good point to remember and it's not always mentioned. I know for fact that I direct people to the hardware store for fixtures all the time and don't always remember to mention removing the plastic. Now that I've read your thread here, I'll be most sure not to forget that important tidbit ever again! :D *adding it to my beardie care sheet as we speak*

I have a virtual laundry list of "things done wrong" at the start. Indeed, at least when you took off the cover, there was a quality light underneath which is more than I can say for our first set up. Oh, don't get me started...

The best,
Em

Ok... I'm confused. I bought a UVB strip light, and it has a hard flat plastic protectiong it, like straight across the bottom... is that what you are talking about? Should I remove it???
Like a clear shield???

Wow, thanks for the help... today is the 1st day Falkor ate some of his veggies- maybe this made a difference ;)

That is wonderful that Falkor ate his veggies :blob8: Getting the right amount of uvb can make a world of difference.

See RandH.... your so-called "mistake" is making an impact on other beardies lives. This is a good thing! :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
