tiles

So today i moved my dragon and his things into his new 60 gallon tank that i found for 70$ on craigslist and i had tiles along the bottom of the old 35 gallon one and now the tiles do not fit. I was wondering how some of you guys get the tiles to fit perfectly. I go on the enclosure pics thread a lot because there are some very good ideas and creative tanks but ive always wondered what you measure exactly and how to know what size tile to get. Thanks for any help.

If you can't find a tile in the dimensions that would fit your tank without cutting, Lowe's will cut tile for you.

^this. Measure the exact inner dimensions, head to lowes, pick a tile, calculate how each tile needs to be cut, and get them cut.

It sounds pretty easy but it can be difficult, so choose a shape of tile that will make life simple. I chose to use a 6x24 inch wood grain ceramic for my 5x2 enclosure. Using 10 tiles laying up and down the width of the viv, I had to trim all of them down ~2 inches off the top, and the two pieces on the left and right ends got trimmed an inch on the side.
