Tiles for a 40 gallon breeder?

First of all thank you for reading this post. I haven't been active on this forum in a very long time but, now I'm back!
I was given a free 5 year old dragon by my uncles friend. The kids grew tired of him :(.... Welp, I now need to make a few changes to his setup. I am currently at work and would like to grab some kind of tile on my way home but I can't find out the exact dimensions of the inside of a 40 gallon breeder. I know it is 18 inches in width but, if I purchase an 18 inch tile it probably would be to big because of the actual floor dimensions. Does anyone have an exact measurement?

Thanks again!
Josh

Wish I could help you out, but I don't know the answer. Hopefully someone else will chime in before you have to leave work.

12" X 12" tiles never actually are truely 12", they're generally 11-11/16" or so. You'll need to purchase 5 tiles to cover the floor, 3 tiles you will leave uncut, the other tiles you will cut into 3 5.5" wide sections.

And the interior dimentions are roughly 35.5" X 17.5"

This was not the case for me as I had correct tiles

Then they weren't advertised as 12" tiles, more than likely you got 12.5" tiles. The rule of thumb is that actual tile width + grout = advertised tile size.

Ok, sorry about that I just know that my tank its 12 inches and I had some tiles they fit so I thought they would be 12.5 inch tiles. my bad

I have 2 18" porcelain tiles in Emerson's 40 breeder and they fit perfectly width wise, it was the length that was a problem. Its about 1/4" too long on one tile but I just left it sit on top of the other tile. I feed with tongs so I don't have to worry about anything getting under there and it gives me a little edge to pull up the tiles when cleaning. One of these days I might cut it to fit but it works for now.

I did post a reply to this the other night but apparently it didn't post from my iPhone. Thank you every one for your input! I just ended up grabbing two 17 inch tiles for the moment. I layed those down on some sand. Before anyone goes nuts on me, I know the risks of sand and what not but, this dragon is over 5 years old and had been on sand his entire life. I have dramatically decreased the chances of impaction by taking up almost all of the floor space with the tiles. I really don't foresee there being any problems.
On another note I cleaned out his cage today because my room was starting to smell. I washed the tiles down and the mopani wood that is in there. Does anyone have a problem with wood absorbing poop smells? I might need to look for some other type of basking platform. Something that will be easier to clean regularly.
I will upload some pics if they are needed.
Thanks everyone! Sure is great to be back on such a great forum!
Josh.

I could be the mopani but I would think it would be the sand. i personally do not use wood or sand. Its just preference. How did the tiles fit in? :D

I'm Cleaning some old Repti-carpet to replace the sand later and see how that works. For now here is a picture of the current setup.

I would really like to get a nice Critter condo but it seems like the website is down. Anyone one know of a good website to order one from?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
