Tile substrate & UVB light.

I have a new beauty he's 3-4 months old
and I'm currently using paper towel in his 40 gallon(36x18x18) tank. I'm looking to put tiles in but I'm pretty lost.
A) what kind of tiles? Ceramic, porcelain, slate(looking to file claws)
B) do you grout it, or seal it in anyway to close the gaps or stick it in there?
C) what do you put under it?

UVB
I currently have a 24" reptisun T8 10.0 on top on the screen on my tank. Looking to buy a 34" HO reptisun 10.0 & mount it inside my tank so the screen isn't in the way & I can have the extra 10" of UVB I have the fixture I want to use

Just wondering
where inside the tank is the best place to stick it, high back? Middle back? From above?

Thanks

Get natural rough cut slate tile. No need to grout. Get it cut to the inside dimensions of the tank so they fit together. It's been suggested with the HO reptisun you only need to cover maybe 2/3 of the tank. So I'd recommend the 22 inch one. Since this bulb is so strong you need to have it mounted OUTSIDE the tank. Hope that helps. AG

I'm really wanting to mount my UVB light inside the tank as it's getting cumbersome on top with the basking light & CHE & everything. I also like the look of it. Problem is, the fixture I have; I cannot mount inside. I cannot for the life of me find a 24" T8 with enough wattage. Which is what made me get the one I have now.

Hypothetically speaking, if I had a mount for my 24" T8 should I put it inside & cover the whole length of the tank?
Also, do I need a reflector if the fixture doesn't come with one

I agree with AG.

Either light format should be mounted overhead, not on the wall.

The T5 are superior lights by a lot. Have you considered a light stand?

If you use the T8 then you want the light the whole tank length - they are closer to shade levels of uvb. A reflector will help the output, but still isn't as powerful as the T5 (without reflector).

Ceramic tiles tend to be too slippery for my tastes. Slate is a good way to go. you could put nonstick shelf liner under it to add some padding.

Walmart has an under counter fixture you can mount inside the tank.about 9.00.

A lot of people keep saying that, I haven't seen anything like that. I live in Canada by the way, I've seen them on the American Walmart website, but that's it.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
