Hi guys I am getting bd in the next few days yay!!!! Im fine about giving live food but my thoughts are now plagued with - what if I go away???? My friend usually feeds bunnys and fish and would do bd too I dont anticipate worms or salad being an issue but crix may frak her out a bit and I thought maybe the above were an option. Having no previous experience to call on you guys were my first point of call. Whats the deal with canned and freeze dried or are they bad for bds. We are talking very occasional here I had a week away in may this year and a week in august to get married but usually its one week and the odd weekend to visit my mum who is a few hours from me so i see her over one night four times a year ish

any holiday feeding cover suggestions welcome ta again

I pre-package cricket meals for each day for my dragons, or superworms. I've never had much use for pellets or other foods. I have heard of people having limited success with them with baby dragons mostly.
I think it's important to fatten them up before leaving. Give easy instruction, without intimidating the person helping you. A week isn't that long and an adult dragon will be fine with food every other day. Babies need more food. Greens last a couple of days.

Just some thoughts

A friend of mine gave me this medley of dried grasshoppers, crickets, and other such critters that was mixed with some plant-like material pellets. I believe it came from Drs. Foster and Smith. I really had no plans to feed it to Helix, but for some reason I stashed it in my closet. Well, good thing I did because I had an emergency business trip that I had to leave for a week, and I could not find a soul to watch Helix (or my cats) for me. So I gave Helix a nice hour long soak in the tub before I left and put this dried insect medly food in her bowl, praying that she won't die of starvation. Lo and behold when I came home, it was all gone! I know she didn't like it because she wouldn't let me touch her for a day, but atleast she had food.... Man, cats are so much easier. 2 litter boxes, a gallon water feeder, a gallon food feeder, and locked away in my luxurious bedroom - they had no idea that I was even gone.

Nice welcome home....

I go away frequently, too. I have someone to check in on all my pets, but they aren't that cool about feeding the crix either. So, I had her put in a fresh pile of veggies every day, then I made little pre-packaged cricket cups. I took disposable cups, put a pinch of greens in the bottom and a piece of egg crate, put in about 4 dozen crickets (less than she would normally eat in a day, but enough to sustain her). I covered them with the press and seal wrap stuff and poked little holes in the top. I stored them on their sides to provide them with more floor space to climb around on.
I think it will be easier when Blazey is an adult, then I can make big salad mixes and pre-package them by the day. Then all my babysitter would have to do is change out the salads and maybe feed one live meal.

I will be using your crix cup idea, thanks

It went well. All she had to do was peel off the top and throw the contents in the cage. I had a few dried pieces of veg and pieces of egg crate to pick out, but Blazey had a meal every day! Glad to help :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
