Thor Having problems

I seem to not be able to figure this out, Yesterday I changed his carpet out with tile and switched from compact( yes I know not good) to the reptisun 5.0 tube and the thing was making a noise like errrrrrrrrrr and I feed him a couple crickets, then couple minutes later I came back to check on him and noticed like he was trying to swallow something( there was nothing in there he could eat) puffing his beard out and the pushing it back down(kinda like he was flexing it). So I go to put my hand it to pick him up and he went crazy, puffed his bearded out and went all black then flattened his body and started tilting away from me but rubbed his head very gently and seemed to unflatten his body but still had his bearded all blacked out, I even gave him drops of water from my finger to help him clear his throat if there was anything. I turned of the light that was making the errrrr sound and put the old one back in (for now). I think it was either the light making that high pitched errr sound or I disturbed his brumation and he got pissed but he never tried to lunge at me or even snap just had it flexed and all black, I wanted to post this up here and make sure he is all right

This morning when I plugged in his light and he started moving around and he came to the glass looked straight at me and did an arm wave like he was saying my bad, He is back to his old happy go lucky self, and he did the flexing of his bearded again but without black, im guessing that's just him stretching I picked him up just fine an he looked at me like wheres breakfast, he ate an still eating crickets, I think I'm up to 30 lol but still wondering what was wrong yesterday, was it just a bad day for him or is it the light making that high pitched errr sound, I know they have ears I just don't know if they can be aggravated by sound or if I somehow handled him wrong yesterday and unknowingly hurt him, which I'm always real easy an gentle with him, He must be in brumation because he is taking naps frequently, he is taking one right now.

It sounds like he is grumpy. It could just be from the changes, the new light or the problem with the light.
If your light is making the noise I think it is there are a couple things to check.

1) Check that the bulb is seated correctly. If it is loose or not rotated in fully it wont have good contact and can make that noise, as well as flicker. Take the bulb out, then put it back in, rotate it in the socket until it is fully seated (some have a sort of 'snap' when its in right, usually 90-180 degrees rotation)
2) The bulb could be bad - Can you replace it with another one? This will check if its the bulb or the fixture. (If possible a Reptisun 10 is a better bulb than the 5.0. it might help his mood as well)
3) The fixture could be bad - If re-seating the bulb or another bulb doesn't fix the problem you may need a new fixture.

I think I figured out why he has been stretching his beard and opening his mouth, he just did eye bulging few minutes ago an then I finally caught him rubbing his head on his rock, his head is about to shed :lol:
