Hey guys,

Im currently using the Microclimate 600W Dimming Thermostat B1. At the moment, i am really struggling to get the right temperatures, i've been told that the sensor should be on the cool end as most dials on the thermostat only going up to 92F. Yet i've heard from other places it should be on the basking spot.

Do any of you guys use a thermostat or is it not needed?

Cheers

Is this a thermostat or a thermometer? If it's a thermostat for making sure that your nighttime temps don't go too low, then you want it on the cool side.

However, if it's a thermometer for getting accurate temperatures throughout your enclosure, this type of thermometer is the most highly recommended: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Acu-Rite-Indoor-Outdoor-Thermometer/896347
It's a digital thermometer with a probe. Most dial/stick-on thermometers measure the temperature of the glass, not the air, I have seen them be as much as 40 degrees too cold (that's enough to cook your beardie  ) The other nice thing about these thermometers is the fact that you can accurately measure both sides of the tank at once, you just stick the probe up on the basking spot and the unit on the cool side and viola! you have an accurate temperature reading. The other option is an infrared temp-gun, but since I only have one reptile and would never otherwise have a use for a temp-gun, I just stuck with the probe thermometer.

If you have any other questions, you can let me know.

I just wanted to double check, I know people who say thermostat when they mean thermometer. Sorry about that.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
